The upcoming Silverado EV, a fully electric vehicle, is soon arriving at dealerships. Currently, the 2024 Silverado EV RST. Unlike Ford, Chevrolet has constructed this truck on a specific BEV platform called Ultium, and it boasts the largest battery pack among electric trucks, with a capacity of over 200 kWh. This results in a remarkable range of up to 440 miles on the Silverado RST trim, along with a staggering 754 HP and 785 lb-ft of torque in WOW (Wide Open Watts) mode. According to Chevrolet, it can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 4.5 seconds!
Thanks to its dedicated BEV platform, this truck boasts superior aerodynamics compared to the GMC Hummer EV, which shares the same platform. However, some may feel that the design resembles a replacement for the Avalanche rather than an electric Silverado.
The interior is equipped with a substantial 17.7” touchscreen featuring built-in Google functionality. Despite the absence of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Chevy is confident that users won’t miss these features as the native system performs just as effectively. The bed measures just under 6 feet long and can accommodate up to 1,500 lbs of payload. Additionally, the MultiFlex Midgate allows for a pass-through into the cab, enabling the transportation of items nearly 11 feet long!
The cost of the RST First Edition is approximately $97,000, a significant investment. Nevertheless, this truck offers the most extensive range in its class, at least until the Cybertruck introduces its optional range extender, which compromises bed space.
