This 2024 Lexus GX550 replaces the old GX460, and it begins under the hood, where the thirsty but smooth 4.6L V8 has been swapped out for a 3.4L Twin-Turbo V6, making 349 HP (+48 HP) and 479 lb-ft of torque (+150 lb-ft) over the old N/A V8. The new GX550 also picks up 4 more gears, with a 10-speed AT and full-time 4WD putting that power to the pavement! Lexus claims it should improve the 0-60 MPH performance to 6.5 seconds, about a second faster than the old V8 engine.
The GX550 Luxury + trim is the top-of-the-line version, painted in Eminent White Pearl with the Saddle Tan Semi-Aniline leather interior. The front seats are heated/cooled and massaged, and this is also the only trim to get the panoramic glass roof with an electrochromic function. The 3rd row is still reserved for kids but gains 4” of legroom versus the old model, while the 2nd-row captain chairs are heated and provide enough space for average-sized adults to get comfortable.
Pricing for the Luxury trim begins at $77,250, while the Luxury+ adds $4,000 more. Our test truck, with all the bells and whistles, checks in at $84,395.
