The iconic Italian brand, Alfa Romeo USA is going fully electric by 2027 but for 2024, the Alfa Romeo Tonale is the brand’s first-ever plug-in hybrid and this week, we’re spending more time in this gorgeous Verde Tonale Veloce! One of our favorite shades of green is the appropriate color on the new Tonale because here in the US, AlfaRomeo only offers the 1.3L turbo PHEV powertrain, delivering 285 HP and 347 lb-ft of torque.

The most standard power in its class! Paired with a 6-speed Aisin automatic and eAWD with a 15.5 kWh battery pack, it allows up to 33 miles of pure EV-only driving, but when the drive mode is toggled to dynamic, this Alfa is capable of sprinting to 60 mph in just 5.5 secs.

The interior also gets a mixture of old and new, with retro styling digital gauges, but the latest Uconnect 5 software is complete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It’s also the first Alfa with heated and ventilated front seats and the back seat has the most legroom in its class!

Pricing begins at $42,995 for the base Sprint trim, but our Veloce with options and lovely Verde Fangio paint stickers for $58,990. In case you’re wondering, the mechanically similar Dodge HornetRT will top out around $54k.
