Believe it or not, the current Ford GT has been in production for six years. The highly sought-after, Le Mans-bred supercar launched at the end of 2016, and now, it’s finally going out of production at the end of 2022. Ford revealed a new special edition model Wednesday morning to honor the car’s Le Mans win in 2016. Limited to 20 units and called the LM, it will be the GT’s final sendoff.
All GT LMs will come with a Liquid silver exterior paint paired with either red or blue accents throughout to honor the red and blue livery used by the Le Mans-winning No. 68 Ford GT that took a class win in 2016. The splitter, side sills, door sills, engine bay louvers, mirror stalks, and rear diffuser will all come in either red- or blue-tinted carbon, depending on how the buyer specs the car.
The GT LM also gets a united 3D-printed titanium exhaust and Alcantara-wrapped carbon buckets with a driver’s seat finished in either red or blue. The rest of the interior, including the passenger seat, is finished in black Alcantara. Inside you’ll also find an LM-specific badge made from ground down engine crankshaft out of the 2016 third-place Ford GT Le Mans race car, which is pretty sweet.
Ford says it plans to build 20 GT LMs to wrap up production of the GT by the end of the year, with deliveries starting in the fall. Pricing for this limited edition variant hasn’t been released, though we can safely assume Ford is charging a bit over the base GT’s $450,000 MSRP.
